Both managers spoke after Saturday's 1-0 defeat for the Shrimpers at the hands of Aldershot; not surprisingly, one felt their team deserved it, the other felt the points should have been shared. Sturrock: Blues boss Paul Sturrock believed the result was harsh on his side and a draw would have been a fairer reflection of the match. Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Anyone watching the game would have said a draw was a fair result. It was a test for us because Aldershot were in the play-offs last season but I don't think we looked out of sorts against them. If we can just tidy ourselves up then we can win these type of matches instead of losing but we didn't reach the heights we're capable of. I'm not going to make excuses though and it's disappointing not to have taken something from the game." There were some complaints from Shrimpers keeper Glenn Morris about what went on just before the winning goal. Luggy continued: "The goalie is claiming the ball was kicked out of his hands but I don't know what happened. I will have to watch it again on television but there were a lot of disappointed people in the dressing room and we need to bounce back against Port Vale on Saturday now." Dillon: No such worries for Shots boss Kevin Dillon who believed his team thorougly deserved the 1-0 result, in fact he thought they should have won mor eeasily.Dillon spoke to www.theshots.co.uk: "We could have more goals in the end. Once they started to come at us we opened them up with our passing and I think that we will get plenty of that this season. The back four and the keeper were outstanding again and we kept a good line. We were also able to utilise our substitutes to good effect."The Aldershot manager had no complaints about the heavy rain that fell for the majority of the game. Dillon continued: "The pitch was superb again and is a major plus because everybody remarks on it. I wish I could have played in those conditions with a bit of zip on the pitch when the rain was coming down although the thunder and lightning was a bit of a worry. We kept a clean sheet and had 65% of possession during the game and the goal came courtesy of a nice bounce so I would have been disappointed not to win the match and we can prepare for Shrewsbury happy with maximum points."
