As both managers had their say after the Cobblers 2-1 win over the Shrimpers Saturday afternoon, one was happy to get three points at last, the other felt the game was thrown away. Sturrock: 'The goals were just comical as far as I was concerned' Blues boss Paul Sturrock certainly has to work on his side's fitness, especially from his young former non-league players, who are finding the step up tough at times to stay focused for a full 90 minutes. He told BBC Radio Essex: "We've shot ourselves in the foot here today - there were three points here for the taking. But as soon as we went one nothing up we believed we'd won the game, but we forgot to tell our opposition that as well. The goals were just comical as far as I was concerned." Sampson: 'There was a little bit of pressure on us today' Meanwhile, Cobblers boss Ian Sampson was pleased to gain a victory after four consequtive draws.Sampson told www.ntfc.co.uk: "In terms of quality the game wasn't the best but that's League Two football and it was just as important for us to get over the line and get that first win. We've probably not got our just rewards in some of the games we've played this season so to play poorly and get the three points just shows you what a funny game football is. We were sloppy in possession at times and that is something we are going to have to work on but you could see when we went 2-1 up that our confidence came back. "The Northampton manager accepted that new signing Leon McKenzie was not fully fit but the future is looking bright for his young side with maybe an additional signing or two.Sampson continued: "There was a little bit of pressure on us today because we hadn't got a win in the league but hopefully this result is something we can build on. I was disappointed with the goal we conceded because I felt it could have been avoided but we responded well as we have done all season."
