Sturrock: 'Thought we shaded it'

Preston North End: Southend United manager Paul Sturrock was short but sweet after his side had defeated League One Preston North End 1-0 entering the next stage of the competition.

Sturrock: 'Showed we really wanted to win'   A few words from both Blues boss Paul Sturrock and Preston manager Phil Brown, and as you can imagine, one was happier than the other!   Sturrock said: 'The players worked hard and I thought we shaded the win, and I'm pleased for Dicko too. In the end I decided to not make many changes because the players wanted to play. We showed we really wanted to win.'   However, Luggy revealed that centre-back Mark Phillips with his hamstring, which led to his 81st minute substitution, and the groin of left-back Peter Gilbert, have left both defenders in some doubt for the weekend visit of Bristol Rovers.   S24 is looking to build up it's editorial team, why not join us at the Shrimpers fastest growing unofficial site with up to and over 2,000 hits a day currently this month?
