Sturrock: 'Some players are suffering from a lack of form and will be left out'

Oldham Athletic, Liverpool FC. Southend United manager Paul Sturrock is all set to make changes after his side's surrender at Cheltenham Town Saturday for this evening's FA cup replay clash at Oldham Athletic.

Sturrock: 'I will be making what I’d describe as several changes to the side'

We have heard it before, and then he puts out an unchanged side, not that he can totally this time with defensive midfielder JP Kalala on a one-match ban, but you fell Blues boss Paul Sturrock means it this time, and there will be changes to the starting eleven after the weekend's debacle at Whaddon Road where they were hammered 3-0 by the home side.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It’s important to get fresh legs in this team again now and I will be making what I’d describe as several changes to the side. Some players are suffering from a lack of form and will be left out and I also feel there are players who deserve to be given a chance in their place.”

So who would you put in? They've all got a chance, but both Anthony Grant and Ryan Leonard returning to midfield must be good bets.

One thing for certain is that the whole squad knows where they satnd after the Luggy 'hair-dryer' treatment, let's hope they understood him.

Sturrock said: “We had a good chat and I hope the players have taken on board the points I made to them. I think they needed a reminder about a few things because a result like Saturdays' has been on the cards as we haven’t been playing well. It was a very disappointing afternoon. We were second best in every area for the whole game and you can’t expect to play that way and still win matches. However, in football you live to fight another day and we have a chance to bounce back against Oldham."

Let's all hope we do, a very unpleasant 'hat-trick' to take into Friday's very important league game with Bradford City.
