Sturrock signs for Sturrock: Blair extends Shrimpers stay

Southend United striker Blair Sturrock has extended his stay at Roots Hall making it a good few hours for the club. Blair Sturrock: Has finally agreed to an extentsion to his contract Well, it won't please all of the Shrimpers faithful, especially the guy behind me in the West Stand, but the hard working and sometime underrated Shrimpers striker Blair Sturrock, (the son of Luggy, you can see it in the ears), has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club. A tweet from Roots Hall towers informs us: 'Striker Blair Sturrock has extended his contract at Roots Hall ahead of the new season.' Let's face it, he didn't have a line of suitors outside his door did he? However, top scorer Barry Corr appreciates his off the ball running, though he will probably see a lot more bench time this season with the arrival of Bomber Harris. All in all, with the signing of Alassane D'Aiaye from the Palace, a good day in south-east Essex; come on Craig, join the party!   The Sturrock Files Personal information Full name Blair David Sturrock Date of birth 25 August 1981 (1981-08-25) (age 29) Place of birth Dundee, Scotland Height 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) Playing position Forward Club information Current club Southend United Number 21 Youth career 1998–2001 Dundee United Senior career* Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 1998–2001 Dundee United 0 (0) 2000–2001 → Brechin City (loan) 27 (6) 2001–2004 Plymouth Argyle 63 (2) 2004–2005 Kidderminster Harriers 22 (6) 2005–2006 Rochdale 31 (6) 2006–2009 Swindon Town 50 (6) 2008 → Bournemouth (loan) 4 (0) 2009 → Torquay United (loan) 9 (2) 2009–2010 Mansfield Town 24 (3) 2010– Southend United 43 (6) * Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 12:55, 8 May 2011 (UTC).† Appearances (Goals).
