Sturrock set to strengthen Shrimpers squad: 'Look to move players on and bring in new faces'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock has been speaking to the Football League website about the odd mistake he's made in the transfer market, however Bilel Moshni is certainly not one of them! Sturrock: 'I admit I've made mistakes in the transfer market'He was given an almost impossible task by Shrimpers chairman Ron Martin and Paul Sturrock has done about the best he can since taking over as manager in the summer.Tilly was catching up on his gardening, the squad was decimated, four men left standing, so Luggy and his then assistant Tommy Widdrington wnt about the business of finding a whole new team! Some have been OK, some have been poor, some have a real chance of surviving in the bottom tier, and then there was centre-back Bilel Moshni.Playing in a Paris amateur league, Sturrock gave him a trail quickly followed up by a first pro contract for the French Tunisian, and he's quickly become a cult hit around Roots Hall with some outstanding and fearless performances, if maybe still a little er, headstrong at times.Sturrock told www.football-league.co.uk: "Bilel's developed so much in a short space of time. He could be fantastic for us in the long term and he's certainly the type of quality player that I'd like to bring into the club."Let's hope he can keep the wolves from the door when the transfer window reopens in the new year, along with influential midfielder Anthony Grant. He accepts though that not all has gone well!Luggy continued: "We had to bring in a good number in after I arrived at the club because there were so few bodies here. When you do that quickly - and we put 17 players together in a few weeks - you can make mistakes in the transfer market and I admit I've done that. So we'll probably look to move players on in January and at the same time bring in new faces to strengthen the squad."While accepting it was a good win at Cheltenham last week to go on a consistant winning run he needs his strongest side out performing on a regular basis. The Blues boss concluded: "Injuries are the key to it all though. We've had eight players out recently and we've found it hard to cope with. It will be easier to cope if we can strengthen in January and hopefully we can start pushing up the table, altough it will take a bit of magic to catch the top teams." He's nothing but honest, and if he gets some funds to do it, clearing out the dross like Luke Prosser would help, you wouldn't bet against Luggy continuing to move the Shrimpers up the league table.
