Sturrock seeks improvement

Southend boss Paul Sturrock was pleased with the victory but not the display as his side won 2-0 at Barnet. Anthony Grant and Barry Corr struck in either half to move Sturrock`s side to within touching distance of the play-off places. "I'm really pleased with the result but not the performance if I'm honest, but it's a good win and Barnet isn't an easy place to come and get a win," said Sturrock. "Barnet started really well indeed and we were under the cosh for the first 15-20 minutes and we had to weather the storm. I knew that they were going to be a dangerous animal because of the run that they've been on under Paul Fairclough since he got the job, but once we got past the first 25 minutes and got our goal we were quite comfortable. "We got a bit of a break for the second goal but even if we hadn't got that I'm still sure we would've have held out for the win. "We are moving in the right direction and we've got two home games coming up against sides in the mid-table that we are looking to gain ground on."
