Southend United manager Paul Sturrock has already stood defiant after his side's sixth game without a win last Friday, and belives he needs to make more than one change in the new year.

Sturrock: 'I will be pushing very hard to bring in several players'   Blues boss Paul Sturrock is determined not to take a mere four successive defeats lying down and will look to sign 'several players' when the transfer window reopens in the new year.   Not sure how much he's spoken to CEO Tara Brady about this, if Jemal Johnson's sacking goes through it will release some funds, while we may still need to lose at least one player of the present squad, Ferdinand anyone?   Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It now merits for this team to be freshened up when the transfer window opens again in January. I will be pushing very hard to bring in several players to the football club because I do feel that’s important. I need more competition for places in certain areas of the team and it’s vital there’s an edge to our play again. I have irons in the fire with this already and it’s going to be an important time.”   It is indeed; in Luggy we trust!   And this news could free up a quid or two!: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    Championship clubs continue to sniff around the Shrimpers: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    Bilel vote continues: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    S24 is looking to build up it's editorial team, why not join us at the Shrimpers fastest growing unofficial site with up to and over 2,000 hits a day currently this month?   If you have something to say on the present exciting times at Southend United or an idea for a new poll, then click on the link with your article or contact details and we will get in touch, just a few lines will do: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
