Sturrock refuses to kill Ricketts deal: 'It all depends on the financial package'

After all the drama of Monday evening Southend United manager Paul Sturrock has told local media that the possibilty of winger Rohan Ricketts joining the club, along with defender Ryan Leoanrd, is still on. Hold the front pages; Ricketts deal still on says Luggy! Poor old EEB, he's still locked in a dark room after last night's twittering regarding the current situation regarding the possibilty of rohan Ricketts becoming a Shrimpers. It was on when he flew late to Scotland and took part in both the weekend games, it was off again when Echoman Chris Phillips wrote: 'Ricketts has not signed for Blues', in response to the transfer website rumours that he was to put pen to paper, well, it could be on again! Blues boss Paul Sturrock has said he will make a decision on whether to sign the former Tottenham winger this week, which might be too late by then with clubs smelling blood, or a good player on the cheap, and can we afford him anyway along with the hoped for central strikers that Luggy seemed to believe was so important yesterday! Anyway, Sturrock told BBC Essex: "It really all depends on the financial package that Rohan is involved in. That would be the deciding factor, there's no argument about the talent. His fitness levels are not the standard they should be. But he brings a great talent, so it's something I'll think about over the next few days." No one would argue with that, let's hope it gets sorted out sooner rather than later, Rohan has certainly gone to ground himself, no bad thing to be honest. Oh yes, and what about the forgotten man in all this, the ex-Plymouth right-back Ryan Leonard, the only other trailist on show north of the border.  Sturrock added here: "Ryan's had an excellent time here, I'm very keen to have a chat to him. He brings us a bit of cover and competition for places." That's one deal that seems to be as good as done.
