Sturrock patches up defence

Southend boss Paul Sturrock still has defensive worries for the trip to Stevenage. Chris Barker will miss out again after suffering a setback in his recovery from a calf injury while Mark Phillips will continue to rest a hernia in the hope he can avoid surgery. Bilel Moshni overcame a knock to take his place in the heart of defence against Shrewsbury alongside Graham Coughlan, who himself returned from a groin injury, and the duo are set to continue. Luke Prosser will take his place on the bench despite still suffering from the effects of a foot injury while Antonio German will be pushing for a start following a lively 35-minute cameo against Shrewsbury at the weekend.
