Sturrock on season end for Shrimpers: 'Disappointed that the team we put together didn't gel sooner'

It's nearly all over but plenty to play for if you play for Wycombe Wanderers as in his weekly Echo Blues boss Paul Sturrock talks about the draw with Burton Albion. Sturrock: 'I'm pleased we have been able to turn around our home form' It's nearly all over and Blues boss Paul Sturrock was in a refelctive mood when writing his weekly column for the Evening Eho.Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Wycombe Wanderers away will be our final game of the season this weekend and I have mixed views on our campaign. I'm disappointed that the team we put together didn't gel sooner and also by the number of injuries we got, especially those which came shortly after the closure of the January transfer window. That certainly hit us hard but, at the same time, we have definitely made progress this year. I'm pleased we have been able to turn around our home form and that's something we need to carry on next season." Hear, hear to that, but Luggy was still prepared to look back to last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Burton Albion that saw the Brewers survive in League Two next season and the curtain draw down on another Roots Hall campaign.Sturrock continued: "The 1-1 draw against Burton on Saturday made it nine games unbeaten for us at Roots Hall but I think we actually scored too early in the game. It may sound strange but after Barry Corr put us ahead after just three minutes I think our mindset changed and we were made to pay the price when they equalised." Before finally moving on from the match Luggy wanted to talk about the brace of sending off's that left both teams with ten men at the final whistle and mean former Chelsea youth Lee sawyer will not be able to face one of his former clubs at the weekend. He said: "There were also two red cards shown late on and I didn't agree with either of them. Jacques Maghoma was sent off for Burton after apparently gesturing to the crowd but I think a booking would have been enough to scare him. I also didn't think Lee Sawyer deserved to go either. He picked up two yellow cards and the first of those was probably the correct decision. But the second was very harsh and it's a shame because he won't be able to play when we go to Wycombe this weekend." Interesting view on Maghoma, the first I've heard outside Burton in defence of his actions.Agree with Luggy?
