Both managers had their say after the Shrimpers victory over the Bulls at Edgar Street Saturday; one believes his side has played better, the other still feeling a touch punch drunk! Sturrock: 'We showed a bit of character to get back in the game'Blues boss Paul Sturrock insisted his team had not lost form, and he was proved right in the 3-1 win against Hereford Saturday afternoon that took the Shrimpers back safely into the midtable.Even so, he wasn't that impressed! Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "It was a strange game as I think we have played better in the last two games than we did against Hereford. Saturday we tightened up a bit at the back and the team has shown composure. It was nice to see the strikers combine for a goal but more importantly was both of them scoring for confidence."Luggy certainly believes he has his 20-goal man in Barry Corr who was given a strong chat by the Shrimpers manager before the game to up his play after a disappointing couple of matches, and he certainly responded! All in all plenty to take into the Priestfield Stadium in midweek as Gillingham await in Kent. He continued: "We showed a bit of character to get back in the game and win. We are now sitting one point off the play-off spots and if we get a win on Tuesday night then we are right in where we want to be. Let's go and get the three points on Tuesday now." Davey: Meanwhile, Bulls boss Simon Davey was still wondering how the game got away from his team.Davey soke to BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We got off to a flyer, got our goal then took our foot off the gas. They stopped doing the jobs they were asked to do. Then they got punished. A cross into our box, good finish. A dubious second goal. Still don't know what has gone on there. Obviously he touched it and we tried to get onto the ball but I could see from where I was sitting that they moved the ball three or four yards further, closer to the goal. He, the referee, doesn't see that and the next minute it's in the back of the net. Then we conceded again from a bad error which was a bad decision from one of the back four."Emm, an interesting take on a special finish by S24's man-of-the-match Michael Timlin's free-kick, not sure what team doesn't try and add the odd yard to move the ball nearer the goal, but sour grapes there I think Simon, his side were very poor.Anyway, Davey concluded: "They have to start doing their jobs for ninety minutes. At the end of the day it's no good doing it for twenty five minutes or fourty five minutes. They have to do it for ninety minutes. We got our nose in front then didn't have the belief to win the game when they should have done. We need a bit more presence in there. We look a bit lightweight in there. I thought Manset didn't work hard enough today. I thought he worked for twenty minutes and then downed tools which is not acceptable."
