Sturrock named manager of the month, Timlin misses out to Carlton! : Morecambe FC, Swindon Town

Morecambe FC, Crewe Alexandra, Crawley Town, AFC Wimbledon, Shewsbury Town. outhend United manager Paul Sturrock has been named top boss for September but midfielder Michael Timlin was beaten to the best player award by Morecambe striker danny Carlton.

Southend United boss Paul Sturrock has been named the League Two Manger of the Month for September.

The Shrimpers enjoyed a fine run of form in September to move to the top of the League Two table.

Sturrock guided his side to four wins, one draw and one defeat in the month, including impressive victories over fellow promotion hopefuls Rotherham and Shrewsbury.

Sturrock beat off competition from Shrewsbury chief Graham Turner, Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio and AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown to win the award.

Banny Carlton: Player of the Month September 2011

And Morecambe striker Danny Carlton has been rewarded for his rich vein of form with the Player of the Month award.

Carlton netted five goals in the month, including a superb hat-trick in the 6-0 hammering of Crawley Town.
