Both managers had their say after the FA Cup First Round draw at Moss Rose Saturday afternoon which takes the tie back to Roots Hall for a replay and both accepted the result. Sturrock: 'Ryan came on and did what exactly what I expected of him' A master double substitution by Blues boss Paul Sturrock turned the FA Cup First Round tie between Sikmen and Shrimpers that finished 2-2 with the Essex boys coming back twice from going behind, including a debut goal for loanee Antonio German.Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "The boy Ryan came on and did what exactly what I expected of him and he turned the game. I spoke to him before the game and he was disappointed not to start but his consistency from one game to the next needs to improve. What we need to remember though is that this is his first proper season still."Even so Luggy was annoyed that all that work on the training pitch re defending Silkmen set pieces seemed to be forgotten once on the pitch.Sturrock explained: "They scored two goals off of set pieces which was disappointing as we should have defended better. We warned the side what to expect so I was very surprised with the way we lost the two goals."Catch all the goals here:www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/debutant_german_grabs_spotkick_corr_swoops_macclesfield_town_v_southend_united_highlights_575900/index.shtmlSimpson: 'We're still very much in the competiton' Meanwhile, Silkmen boss Gary Simpson was obviously not a happy man to blow a goal lead twice, however he felt overall the score reflected the game. Simpson told www.mtfc.co.uk: "I always thought it would be a tougher game than perhaps people were expecting. They're a big team with a few experienced heads, and I think a draw was probably a fair result on the day."The Macclesfield manager then went on to answer some post-match questions regarding the match, and first; Any complaints about the penalty?: "No, not really. Their lad did well when he cut in and looked to shoot. So you can understand Toto making their challenge. But he took an extra touch and by then Toto was committed and I don't think we could have too many complaints."But not being able to hold on to a brace of leads........Simpson continued: "Well, yes would be the obvious answer but I don't think I can be too critical of the lads. And credit must go to Southend. We had chances. Tyrone hit the bar which on another day might have gone in and Vinny had a good chance. But they had their chances as well. So a draw was probably about right especially given we lost Nat Brown for most of the second half."Finally, the replay at Roots Hall Tuesday week.Simmo concluded: "Well, we've got another opportunity and we're still in the 2nd Round so all is not lost. Of course its a tough place to go and we could have perhaps done without the long trip in midweek. But we can't go there with any negative thoughts. We're still very much in the competiton and we've picked up some good results away from home so there's still all to play for."
