Sturrock: Individual errors proving costly

Southend manager Paul Sturrock admitted individual errors are costing his side dearly after they were beaten 3-2 by Morecambe. Two goals in five minutes gave the Shrimps a 2-1 lead at half-time but after Barry Corr equalised for the home side, it was James Spencer's 73rd-minute strike that gave Morecambe their first three points of the new campaign. Sturrock said "The enthusiasm to try and win games is taking players out of position and we are not keeping our shape. It is these individual errors that are costing us. "That's something I am going to be working on because there is a nucleus that can make a good team. "The work-rate and attitude were right but we were outfought and bullied a little bit by Morecambe and we did not match that. We knew this was not going to be a bed of roses but I can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. "The players all have different attributes but there's a lot of fingers being pointed at the front because they are not scoring, but the defence must tighten up too."
