Sturrock hails Shrimpers show

Southend manager Paul Sturrock was delighted with his side`s performance following the 2-0 win over Cheltenham. Two first-half strikes from on-loan striker Jack Midson settled the game to end the Robins` six game unbeaten run and give the Shrimpers an impressive three points. Sturrock said: "If we keep playing like that then we are going to win a lot of games. "I have been a bit disappointed since Jack (Midson) came to the club. The first game he did okay, but after that he has been disappointing. "I told him I was going to give him the opportunity, but at the end of the day he had to go and grab it, and I'm pleased it has worked out for him. I hope this has given him confidence. He and Blair (Sturrock) did well together and looked a decent pairing. "Football is a strange game. We were disappointed on Saturday, but I didn't want to put it down to lack of work. But we`ve now had two or three days on the training field and we are looking a team again."
