Sturrock: Gradi:

Both managers have their say before the clash between Shrimpers and Railwaymen Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall; with one wanting more ruthlessness, the other continuing what he's always done. Sturrock: Blues boss Paul Sturrock knows his defenders have to be on top form at the weekend to keep out the free-scoring Railwaymen while knowing that they will always provide chances for his strikers at the other end. This is a game that shouldn't finish goalless!Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I think the key for us tomorrow is that defence remains nice and solid. Crewe are a side who have been scoring goals and that does concern me. They head out to attack and just score more than the opposition and that's why we need to be nice and steady at the back."Yet it's the chances his side are missing at the other end that are worrying the Shrimpers manager, a fault that led to the 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield last week.He continued: "We need to be more ruthless and clinical. We've had too many matches now where we could've or should've taken something from the game and we need to start doing it. I don't want to be getting pats on the back for playing well and losing, I want to be winning matches and be proud of how my team are playing." Gradi: 'All we can do is play decent football and keep the club going' Legendary Alex boss Dario Gradi has been at Crewe in various forms since 1983 could see his side equal a 10-game unbeaten run from eight years ago if they remain unbeaten at Roots Hall Saturday. However, many of those games have been high-scoring draws, 5-5 and 3-3 their last two games, and if they lose they could fall into the bottom four. Gradi told www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk: "The league position has to look after itself, as long as we're not struggling. At the moment it's a case of rebuilding the team and if we have a surge to the top, then that will be terrific. All we can do is play decent football and keep the club going. We've got some good young players coming through and hopefully we will be able to build a team which, in two or three years, is going to take us somewhere."He will also be saying hi to Luggy again, their paths having crossed a few times over the years. Speaking this time to www.crewealex.net Gradi said: "I know Paul very well and it will be good to have a chat before and after the game tomorrow. I have always been on very good terms and he is a top manager. I am sure he will do a very good job with Southend. Neil (Barker) was very impressed with them last weekend. It is going to be a tough away fixture for us, but they are all tough now."
