Sturrock fuming at ref

Southend manager Paul Sturrock was very pleased with his players' efforts in the 1-1 draw with Stockport but was left fuming at the goal that his side conceded. Sturrock was sent to the stands following the Hatters opening goal scored by George Donnelly after complaining furiously along with his players that the goal was offside. The Shrimpers boss, who went on the pitch to complain to referee Iain Williamson who ordered him from the dugout, could only watch on as his son Blair netted an equaliser six minutes into injury time. "Everyone in the stands realised the linesman put his flag up and at the end I'm up in the stands from a decision which I felt was a mistake by the referee," said Sturrock. "The linesman should have kept his flag up. "Yes, I went onto the pitch and I do not think one manager in the country would not have done the same. The referee would not listen to me and I was trying to get nearer to speak to him. The fourth official ordered me into the dugout but I'm allowed to stand in the box." "Despite that, I delighted with the resilience the players showed. Overall, I think we shaded it but probably a a draw was a fair result."
