Southend United manager Paul Sturrock continues his insistance that new blood will be on the way, while admitting that the weekend game with Tilly's Imps may be have some extra spice to it. Sturrock: 'I'm sure some of our transfer targets will become available' With what's been going on today we half expect lawyers to be seen on the touchline at Lincoln City at the weekend instead of coaching staff.Previews, pub crawls and a very interesting interview with a Imps fan is on it's way first thing as we try and return to the fact there's a game being played and points to be won, not a barrister's brief!Blues boss Paul Sturrock has a 'list' we were told earlier this morning with Premier League kids and a League One striker in the reserves were at the top of it.No clues though in his weekly Echo column other than we might see someone new as there are clubs struggling for dosh as we are, that's probably 80% of the bottom two division then, along with half the Championship. Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "We do need to freshen up the team. As a result, I will be having a meeting today and we will be going through the players we have targeted to sign on loan before the transfer window shuts next week. I'm sure some of them will become available because of the financial situations many clubs find themselves in at the moment." We have, of course, been hearing this for a while now, but with so little time and a small squad being stretched to breaking point Luggy has to act this time or any play-off dreams willl soon be just memories as the continued dropping of points, five this week already, will see a steady slip into mid-table obscurity. However, it will not be easy at Sincil Bank Saturday especially with so much extra baggage involved.Wonder if Luggs and Screech will shake hands?Sturrock continued: "I would like to bring someone in before Saturday's game with Lincoln and I'm fully aware this game has an extra edge to it with Steve Tilson being their manager. It's an important game for us too and we want three points to help us with our challenge of getting in to the play-offs. However, it will be a very difficult game. Only a few weeks ago, Lincoln were fighting for their lives but they've put together a run of good results and can now see some light at the end of the tunnel. They've moved up the table and I think we will have to play even better than we did against Gillingham if we are to get anything out of the game."
