Sturrock: 'Blame me, I went for the win'; Tilson: 'Apart from it being Southend it was a big win'

The Imps of Lincoln City 2 Southend United 1: Both Southend United's Paul Sturrock and Lincoln City's Steve Tilson had their say after Tilly saw his side grab a 2-1 win over his old club at Sincil Bank Saturday. Sturrock: 'Should have reined some of them back in rather than attacking'Luggy laments! It certainly did seem a game for the taking, twice! The first half-hour was dominated by the Shrimpers passing game but during that period they never really tested Imps keeper Trevor Carson, the first time Rhys Evans had to deal with a shot on target, they scored from the rebound! And after the Southend equaliser, well taken by son of Luggy Blair, maybe a period of containment was in order, hold what you've got for ten minutes or so; no, it was a wave of attacks that led to their being no defender to watch the dangerous Ashley Grimes who has drifted out to the left and eventually cut inside and score the winner.  Sturrock told BBC Essex: "We seemed to dominate long parts of the first half and 20 minutes of the second half. I tend to put a lot of the blame on me, because I went for the win. We're away from home, I maybe should have reined some of them back in rather than attacking." The club's official match report:www.southendunited.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10444~53180,00.htmlSteve Tilson: 'If we can keep Grimes it will be a miricale' Tilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "Apart from it being against Southend it was a big three points for us. We're on 45 points, another five and we should be safe. I thought we raised our game in the second half, we were excellent in the 15 minutes until they scored which put us on the back foot, but again we took the game to them and I was proud of the lads." Tilly still found time to praise the man he brought in from Millwall, and annoyingly S24's player-to-watch, we keep picking them and they keep coming back to haunt us, with a brace this time, top scorer Ashley Grimes. He said: "Ashley's got 16 goals now in 19 games, his second was a fantastic finish and it was a poacher's goal for the first one. If we can keep him, (next season), it will be a miracle. I'd love to but I'm sure there will be higher clubs after him." The Imps official report:www.redimps.co.uk/page/MatchReport/0,,10440~53180,00.html
