Southend United striker Matt Paterson is enjoying getting games at League Two rivals Stockport County after a frustrating time at Roots Hall under Blues boss Paul Sturrock. Stockport have suffered a miserable few weeks that has seen them sink to the bottom and stare the conference in the face.Will the loanee from Southend kick-start a great escape?Anyway Paterson told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It's been a frustrating time for me. And I'm pleased to be getting games again. I haven't started two matches in a row for quite some time but that's what I'm hoping will happen this weekend when we play Macclesfield and I want to start to enjoy my football again too. My confidence was hit by what happened at Southend but these things happen in football and you have to get on with it. You have to keep believing in yourself and hopefully now I can do well at Stockport." Obviously scoring in your first game is a good way to impress your new club's supporters, and it's a move that might become more permanent. Paterson said: "It was exactly the start I wanted and needed so I was really pleased, especially as we won the game as well. I'm just pleased to be out there playing again and want to go on and get a few more goals now." Paterson, a makeweight in the move that took Lee Barnard to Southampton, decided to fight it out for a first team place at Roots Hall under new boss Paul Sturrock, but like Scott Spencer, though Matt actually scored some goals in both Carling Cup and JPT, Luggy just didn't seem to fancy him.Patters continued: "The manager had his opinion of me and had other players he would rather play and that happens all the time in football. I came in to the team in dribs and drabs and got four goals in six starts but there are only 11 people who can play every week. Maybe I wasn't treated fairly at times and everyone knows it's been a difficult time for me but the manager makes his decision and I wasn't part of his plans so it was best for me to move on." Many would agree with him on not getting a decent chance, but at least he didn't call Luggy an idiot!
