Steve Tilson: 'Proud of the rapport I have with them because I'm a Southend United fan myself'

Steve Tilson may be manager of the Imps at Lincoln City but in heart he'll always be a Shrimper. I'll always be proud of the rapport I have with them because I'm a Southend fan myself. It really did mean a lot to me that they greeted me the way they did at the end of the game and I thought it really was amazing." However, of course, Tilly still had to get another dig in at Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin who he insists owes him money from when he went on 'gardening leave' in the summer.Tilly said: "A lot has been said on this already but for the chairman to say that I've been paid all my money just isn't right. I had a meeting with him and he knows he hasn't paid what he said he would in that so because of the problems I've had since leaving it does make the win sweet to be honest." Well, not to us Steve, but we get the point, and he felt the Imps deserved the points. He explained: "I thought we raised our game in the second half and were excellent in the 15 minutes until they scored which put us on the back foot. After that we took the game to them and I was proud of the lads." And Tilson couldn't help to twist the knife further, this time in to the side of present Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock, who surprisingly left out influential midfielder Anthony Grant before the game, though he came on in the second half after an injury to Captain Craig Easton. Tilly concluded: "I was shocked but absolutely delighted Granty was on the bench. He's an excellent player and has been one of the Southend's best this season so I was amazed he got left out and it really did give us a boost to be honest." To be fair Steve you obviously haven't seen him in recent games, and really should be worrying about your own side.Hopefully, that's that from T&B until next season at least.Best of luck mate, not that you need it.Tilly thanks the fans:www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/tilly_applauds_shrimpers_support_the_southend_fans_was_tremendous_it_made_my_hair_stand_up_657362/index.shtml
