Spud supports Shrimpers supremo shock: 'Chairman is a very shewd man, he knows what he's doing!'

Bantams boss Peter Taylor is a local Essex boy who has played and managed the Shrimpers while becoming a regular visitor to Roots Hall in-between appointments, and is a fan of chairman Ron Martin! Taylor: 'The most important thing is the club remains'We've all seen the present Bradford City boss Pater Taylor in the East Stand at Roots Hall while 'resting' from the day job, a few felt he might have been running to take over from Tilson earlier than when Tilly was actually asked to look after his garden! So he's in a good position to comment on our present situation, and surprisingly to some maybe, he likes what he sees in Southend United chairman Ron Martin. Blimey!Taylor told www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/: "The most important thing is the club remains, you don't want to go into administration. I think the chairman is a very shewd man, he knows what he's doing and he's always come up with the money when it's been needed, whether it be a tax bill or whatever. He knows it's hard work at the minute because of the current (financial) climate but I'm sure his plans are still in place."Well, yes Spud, but it's not actually Uncle Ron's money, still no harm in sucking up to a chairman, just in case things go pear shaped at Valley Parade and for Sturrock & co. here in south-east Essex. To be fair he does conclude with: "If they get that new stadium with a big supermarket chain behind them, then it will be a very different football club."We hope so Spud old mate, we hope so.The Taylor FilesPersonal informationFull namePeter John TaylorDate of birth3 January 1953 (1953-01-03) (age 57)Place of birthSouthend-on-Sea, EnglandPlaying positionWingerClub informationCurrent clubBradford City (manager)Senior career*YearsTeamApps†(Gls)†1970-1973Southend United75(12)1973-1976Crystal Palace122(33)1976-1980Tottenham Hotspur123(31)1980-1983Leyton Orient56(11)1983→ Oldham Athletic (loan)4(0)1983-1984Exeter City8(0)Total388(87)National team1976England4(2)Teams managed1986-1990Dartford1993-1995Southend United1995-1996Dover Athletic1996-1999England U211999-2000Gillingham2000-2001Leicester City2000England (caretaker)2001-2002Brighton & Hove Albion2002-2006Hull City2004-2007England U212006-2007Crystal Palace2007-2008Stevenage Borough2008-2009Wycombe Wanderers2010-Bradford City* Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only.† Appearances (Goals).(Player information supplied by Wikipedia, for the full article go here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Taylor_(footballer_born_1953)
