Brown to ring changes once again

Southend manager Phil Brown is likely to recall a number of players for the Sky Bet League One clash at home to Walsall.

Brown made six changes to his starting line-up for Tuesday's 1-0 defeat against Brighton in the Capital One Cup and is likely to rotate again for this weekend's clash.

Noel Hunt, Joe Pigott and Gary Deegan all impressed the Southend boss in midweek and could retain their places while David Mooney and Anthony Wordsworth may start after recovering from injury.

Brown's side began their league campaign last weekend with a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood.

Adam Chambers should be fit for Walsall despite missing training on Thursday.

The midfielder suffered a knee injury in Tuesday's 4-3 League Cup win at Nottingham Forest but boss Dean Smith is hopeful he will be available.

Romaine Sawyers is pushing to start after scoring his second goal of the season at the City Ground after starting on the bench.

Tom Bradshaw will again lead the line following his hat-trick at Forest.
