Marc-Antoine Fortune set for Southend debut

Southend could hand a debut to Marc-Antoine Fortune against Peterborough after signing the former West Brom and Celtic striker on a short-term deal following a successful trial.

Anthony Wordsworth will be assessed after the midfielder marked his return from a hamstring injury with the winning penalty in a 2-1 victory over Oxford, as will defenders Anton Ferdinand and Ryan Inniss, who have both just come back into the side.

Forward Nile Ranger is closing in on a return from an ankle problem and could be involved in next week's Checkatrade Trophy tie against Leyton Orient.

Midfielder Michael Timlin continues his recovery from a hamstring problem but is not expected back in contention for at least another three weeks.

Peterborough will be without defender Ryan Tafazolli for the trip to Roots Hall.

The 25-year-old was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury on Tuesday and despite Posh appealing the red card, he will be unavailable for Saturday's game.

Brad Inman and Lee Angol (ankle) remain on the sidelines but are recovering strongly and manager Grant McCann has no fresh injury concerns.

Jermaine Anderson is out for the rest of the season after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
