Weston to miss out for Southend in televised clash

Southend will be without winger Myles Weston for the televised match against Peterborough at Roots Hall as he is on international duty with Antigua and Barbuda.

Goalkeeper Ted Smith is also away with England's Under-20 squad, while defender Glen Rea will head off to join the Repubic of Ireland Under-21s following the Sky Bet League One encounter.

Defender Cian Bolger is back in contention following a shoulder problem and Luke O'Neill could make his first appearance since signing for the Shrimpers on a permanent deal after his Burnley contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Winger Stephen McLaughlin, signed from Nottingham Forest, came off the bench in the 2-2 draw against Coventry on Monday and could also come into contention to start. Striker David Mooney scored his first goal of the season against the Sky Blues and so will be hoping to again lead the attack. Defender Adam Thompson (shoulder) remains in rehabilitation.

Peterborough have been boosted by positive news on duo Kgosi Ntlhe and Michael Smith as they seek their second win of the season.

Ntlhe and Smith have been out with toe and back injuries respectively but are on the mend now, though Gabi Zakuani will miss out as he is on international duty.

Jack Baldwin (knee ligaments) remains sidelined, while Chris Forrester made his Posh debut in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Millwall and could be in contention again.

Michael Bostwick is one yellow card away from a suspension.
