Prosser back for Shrimpers

Luke Prosser returns from suspension for Southend to face Fleetwood at Roots Hall on Friday night.

Fellow defender Adam Thompson is also available for selection again for Phil Brown after returning from international duty with Northern Ireland Under-21s.

Loanee Rob Kiernan could drop to the bench after standing-in for Prosser in the Blues' 1-0 win against Burton last weekend.

Julian Bennett and Marc Laird are both ruled out with knee injuries but Freddy Eastwood could be in line for a start after coming off the bench to grab the winner in the win at the Pirelli Stadium.

Fleetwood are likely to include new loanee Charlie Taylor in their squad as they travel knowing three points would put them top of the table.

Graham Alexander's men are just one point behind leaders Chesterfield, who they drew with last weekend, and can leapfrog them in the table given they play a day earlier.

The Cod Army brought in 20-year-old left-back Taylor on a one-month deal from Leeds as cover for Dean Howell after full-backs Stephen Jordan and Alan Goodall, recalled from his loan spell with Grimsby, both suffered groin strains.

Midfielder Gareth Evans is expected to travel with the squad but will receive a late fitness test on his ankle problem.
