Both Southend United manager Paul Sturrock and Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner had their say after the Shropshire side's 2-0 win at Roots Hall Saturday afternoon. Sturrock: 'The better team beat us today'Blues boss Paul Sturrock accepted that the stronger side won on the day and hinted again that he'll be looking to strengthen the squad when the loan window opens next week.Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I think we were beaten by a better team today. I also think we are a team but we do not have the individual players that will win football games for us. We have to be on top of our game as 11 players, and I felt there was several players off the pace and tempo. They have good players, so when they take leads they are very difficult to break down." He was though positive about the way the Shrimpers finished the game in the opposition half and was determined to look on the brighter side of life after such a disappointing result.Sturrock continued: "The players responded properly in the final 20 minutes and we had a couple of half chances we should have done better with but the better team beat us today. It is something we have been on a good run. I think you've got to appreciate how difficult the conditions were for the players; high wind, the pitch was very firm and the ball was very lively but on the odd occasion we passed it like we can. I was delighted to see Matt Harrold's goal go in. He has worked hard and it was a cracking finish, as was Jon Taylor's. So we can look back on a good days work."He also praised the work his team did at the other end of the pitch, seeing this as a real turning point for his side as we enter the business end of the season.Turner continued: "We really had to battle in the air because Southend get a lot of balls into the penalty area and defensively we were strong and we were solid up front until the last ten minutes when they had a couple of shooting chances. We should have done better on the breaks, we had good possession going into the opposing half and didn't make the most of it but that's probably being a little bit churlish - it was a character performance.
