Southend United's Paul Sturrock after Barnet game

Southend United manager Paul Sturrock was happy enough with his players performance that saw his side just hold on to victory over bottom-of-the-table Barnet and three vital points. Sturrock: 'We got to grips very early in the game' Blues boss Paul Sturrock accepted before the Barnet clash at Roots hall Tuesday evening that he had some 'leggy players' out there after the draw at Torquay, and it certainly showed towards the end of the 2-1 win that saw a tense finish in agame that seemed settled after the Shrimpers scored twice in five first half minutes. Sturrock told BBC Essex: "We got to grips very early in the game and I was really pleased with our start, which is sometimes a thing we can be critical about here. But the players responded exactly the way I thought they would. In the end whilst they (Barnet) hit the post and could quite easily have drawn the game, I don't think the general play in the first half would have merited that."
