Southend United's Luke Prosser on playing Port Vale
Blues central defender Luke Prosser was released by the Valiants at the end of last season after five years, and wants to prove a point to them while hopefully picking up three! Prosser: SOUTHEND United centre-back Luke Prosser is determined to prove Port Vale wrong they visit Roots Hall tomorrow. Prosser spent five years with the Valiants before being released by manager Micky Adams at the end of last season. And he is therefore keen to impress against his former side. "When a manager doesn't want you, you want to prove him wrong," said Prosser, 22. "That was always how I felt when I was younger and it's still the same now so I'm looking forward to the game. "It's always nice to get one over on your old team and hopefully I can do that, if selected, tomorrow." Prosser made 36 first team appearances while with Vale. But just three of those games came last season as the defender fell out of favour at Vale Park and was sent out on loan to both Salisbury City and Kidderminster Harriers. "I didn't play much last season but the year before I played around 30 games and it was good," said Prosser. "I enjoyed my time there and it was where I did my YTS before having three or four years as a pro. "I learnt a lot in that time but I ended up going on loan a couple of times last season and wasn't offered a new contract when mine expired. "Coming to Southend has been great for me though and hopefully we can get out first league win tomorrow."
