Southend United's Blair Sturrock before Torquay United

Blues forward Blair Sturrock is looking forward to taking on the unbeaten league leaders Torquay United on Saturday and hope his team mates can put a dent into that 100% record. Sturrock: 'it's important we start picking up three points at home' There have been mutterrings around Roots Hall that young Blair only gets in the Shrimpers eleven ahead of the arguably more talented Scott Spencer and Matt Paterson as Daddy is the boss. Not sure the Blues faithful will be too upset about him starting in the game against the Gulls at the weekend after he banged in the winning penalty against Gillingham in the JPT Tuesday! Not that Blair will care, he's too worried about the big match and taking on a team that he knows well from his non-league days with Mansfield Town. Blair told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It would be great to get the three points because it's important we start doing that at home, but this will be a very hard game. I know a lot of the boys because they have been together a good while now and they're a good team. I played with them towards the end of the season before last and the squad is still similar now which obviously helps them. They will be solid and well organised and that has been shown by their fantastic defensive record."
