Southend United's Barry Corr before Charlton and after Macclesfield Town

Blues striker Barry Corr was not a happy bunny when he was dropped to the bench for the Shrimpers cup tie at Macclesfield, but cheered up when he came on to grab the second equaliser. Corr: Blues boss Paul Sturrock decided to rest his first choice striking partnership of Barry Corr and Blair Sturrock for the FA Cup First Round clash at Macclesfield Town for new loan signings Jack Midson and Antonio German. However, Corr showed Luggy he was fit and well after coming on as a sub and after only being on the pitch eight minutes he was on the end of an excellent Ryan Hall cross to make the score 2-2 and take the tie to a replay at Roots Hall on Tuesday week. Corr told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I think the manager knew I was unhappy about not playing because he pulled me on it and I wouldn't really speak to him. I think he also knew I would try and impress if I got the chance to come on and thankfully I was able to score, so hopefully I can start our next game against Charlton tomorrow night now. I do think it's good we have added competition for places up front though because it keeps everyone on their toes and should bring the best out of people too." The tall former Exeter man is now confident the Shrimpers will progress to a second round game with Cambridge United or Huddersfield Town away on the weekend of November 27th.Barry continued: "I thought we were slightly the better side and we fancy our chances at home in the replay now. We want to stay in the cup for as long as we can as well because it's a good way for the club to bring in some finances."
