Southend United's Barry Corr after Stevenage: 'Don't call me super sub as I won't start!'

Blues top scorer Barry Corr has found himself on the bench recently after injury and has come off twice to score vital equalisers; he doesn't want it to become a habit! Corr: 'Don't call me super sub'He did it against Macclesfield away in the cup and against Stevenage Tuesday evening Blues striker Barry Corr came off the bench on 76 minutes and grabbed his eight goal of the season to rescue another precious point for his team. But with a smile on his face Barry told the official site he doesn't want to be labelled a 'supersub'; whoops, better rewrite that S24 headline! Corr told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Don't call me super sub as then the manager will never play me! I have been struggling with my back since we played Macclesfield, (Barry missed his penalty), so I think the gaffer is just looking after me. As soon as the match kicks off you can forget about the pain and I was desperate to get out there and luckily I got the goal. Everything should be OK for Cheltenham." Good news indeed, as we can't see the point of continuing to start with the ineffective Oxford loanee Jack Midson, at least the QPR boy Antonio German shows some spirit.Anyway, Corr continued: "The lads are off today but I will be in to do some exercises and I will use the week well and hopefully be pushing for a start. I said to the manager before the game that it was up to him but I wasn't sure I could last 90 minutes - so it was very close. It was a good finish but I think the lads did well and created quite a few chances so I felt we deserved it in the end. Shrewsbury were towards the top of the table and Stevenage are very effective with the way they play so we are fairly happy with a point."
