Anthony Grant; about to join the 100 clubANTHONY Grant wants to clock up a century of Southend United appearances with a win over Gillingham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tonight. Grant, who joined Blues originally on loan in January 2008, is now the club's longest serving player. And he hopes to celebrate his 100th game in style at Roots Hall. "Every game is important, no matter what the competition and we want to build a winning mentality," said Grant, 23. "We were delighted to win at Bradford and now we want to get another victory, which would obviously be the best way to mark my 100th game for Southend." Grant heads into the game against the Gills after finally ending his lengthy barren run in front of goal. The midfielder had gone 79 games and almost two years without hitting the back of the net, so he was thrilled to finally score against Brad-ford. "It felt good to hit the back of the net again," said Grant. "The last time was at Crewe ages ago now, so hopefully I can push on and get a few more goals to help us get more good results.
