The injury depleted Southend United squad is not the biggest and welcomes the lack of a midweek game to gain rest for both body and mind before Saturday's long trip to Morecambe. Gilbert:Hurrah, February is over, the knackered Shrimpers squad can take put their feet up, well, until serious training starts up again as Paul Sturrock's boys work on the vital game against Morecambe at the weekend and the chance to move into the play-off positions at last.Gilbert has not been the only player struggling for fitness though, as a number of his team-mates have also been playing with knocks. Sean Clohessy and Barry Corr have been in action despite not being fully fit, while both Graham Coughlan and Blair Sturrock were struck by an illness last week. "There have been a few lads injured and ill. Some haven't been able to train and have just patched themselves up for the games, so we've done well to get the results we have done. We're glad to now be having a break, both mentally and physically, and I think it will do us good before we're ready to go again."After 9 games in 33 days, ten if the Accrington game hadn't have been called off, aches and pains have hit the Gilbert told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I'm still having problems with my groin, so it is a relief that we don't have a midweek game. We're trying to manage it the best we can and I've been doing exercises to try and make me stronger in that area. But it's been tough and hopefully a bit of a rest will help me this week before we play again." Stop moaning Pete, with the Crewe away game being the last of the reaarranged fixtures to be played on Tuesday, March 15th, there's only six games this month!
