Kene Ferdiand and Anthony Grant, two of the most influential midfielders in the Southend United side, are major doubts for the Barnet clash Tuesday evening at Roots Hall. Kane Ferdinand; picked up an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw at Torquay UnitedSOUTHEND United midfielder Kane Ferdinand is battling to be fit for tonight's home clash with Barnet. The 18-year-old, who has been in fantastic form for Blues since forcing his way in to the first team, picked up an ankle injury during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Torquay United. And he is not sure if he will recover in time to take on the Bees at Roots Hall. Ferdinand told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I really don't know if I'm going to be playing. I took a whack to my ankle at the weekend when their player deservedly got booked and I was limping from it for about five minutes. I was able to continue, but it's been sore ever since and we will just have to wait and see how it responds to treatment. I certainly want to play though because I'm loving being a part of the first team and it's another important game." To add to Blues' midfield woes, Anthony Grant is also doubtful after suffering concussion against Torquay. Lee Sawyer is on standby to figure against his former team, while Miguel Comminges could also be handed a rare start if both Grant and Ferdinand fail to recover. Victory would push Southend to within one point of the play-offs.
