Southend United still losing 100k a month!

As Shrimpers Chief Executive Tara Brady and the Evening Echo combine to try and cheer the faithful up with stories of stadium building commencing we are still in big financial trouble. Well, at least he's talking, but is it bullshit. The Echo are really pushing their exclusive interview with Southend United chief executive Tara Brady when a lot of it is old hat and the same spin that Uncle Ron's been pushing for a couple of seasons now.And nothing about the continued rumours that players and staff are not being paid, again! The headline screams; 'work on new stadium to be started in the summer' and then he actually says; 'I'm still hopeful.......'Brady admits that there are a lot of factors at work that could delay and even stop the project, so vital to the club's future, and keeping Sainsbury's happy, from starting altogether. What is alarming is that the Shrimpers continue to lose close to £100,000 a month! Brady told www.echo-news.co.uk: "We've made some cuts and what we are losing has gone down. We're now losing less than £100,000 a month when it was nearly £200,000 before." Great! The Echo reported how costs were broken down:Income 3mExpenditurePlayers wages...1.35m, which goes up to 1.8m with management and medical staff.Insurance/support costs/hotels etc...600k.Operational and match day staff.......500k.The youth setup..............................600k.Commercial costs............................150kMaintenance and business rates........200k.You do the maths. Let's hope Sainsbury's continue to sell a lot of happy meals over the next few months. We are not out of the woods yet, to be honest, we're not sure where we are.
