Southend United game with Torquay United designated Camouflage Day for the Armed Forces!
The Blues faithful will be looking to take out their best camouflage gear for the League Two fixture against Torquay United on Saturday, September 4th in support of the British Armed Forces. Go to www.armynavystores.co.uk to take a look at the latest gear for the game!Shrimpers fans will just be following orders if they turn up for the match with the Gulls on the 4th of September at Roots Hall in camouflage uniforms to show their support for serving personnel and get behind the themed event. Blues boss Paul Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "We all applaud the work that the armed services are doing at home and abroad. It is not just about them but also about the families and the communities they live in who are all affected. This is an opportunity for the football club and its fans to show its support. We hope that the people of Southend will turn-out on mass to support Camouflage Day and get right behind the team." The day will host a number of military-themed activities including a combat display on the hallowed turf, a special Blue Belles army dance, face painting, and specially themed matchday music. Outside Roots Hall before the game they'll be a collection by the Help for Heroes charity.Meanwhile, the Shrimpers first team squad will get a chance to meet Corporal Robert Moore, from the First Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment, who will be discussing his experiences while serving in Afghanistan. There will also be a special ticket promotion where a family of four, (two adults and two children), will be allowed in the family enclosure for only £20, and if you want to take advantage of this special promotion the queues on the day can be avoided by having the match tickets sent as tickets-by-text direct to their mobile phones.
