Southend United 2 Barnet 1: Northampton Town. Blues boss Paul Sturrock made three changes from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Torquay, two we were prepared for; Anthony Grant (concussion) and Kane Ferdinand (ankle), to be replaced in midfield by Lee Sawyer and Miguel Comminges respectively. The more surprising was the news that top scorer Barry Corr had picked up a slight hamstring strain and was sent to the bench with Louie Soares taking his place, this should lead to a more central role for Blair Sturrock. And after 16 minutes the Shrimpers probably felt the game was as good as over but a late Barnet goal made sure no one left Roots Hall until the final whistle. On 11 son of Luggy Blair found Captain Craig Easton who struck home from close range.Five minutes later Ryan Hall found himself in the Bees penalty area and the in-form winger shot to find the bottom of the net. With the game fading to a close and the home side confident of the three points Barnet scored on 88 minutes Stephen Kabba headed home from inside the six-yard box to give the North London side a sniff of a point. But after five minutes of stoppage time and frantic whistles from the Roots Hall faithful the Bees remained botton of the table and deepin relegation trouble, while Southend United moved even closer to the play-off zone.A full report will be posted shortly included player markings
