The Shrimpers are planning on leaving Roots Hall and relocating to a purpose-built stadium at Fossetts Farm. And although building work has yet to begin at the site, Martin has confirmed that he is currently in negotiations with the contractors. "I am not going to put an absolute time frame to commencement on site, but to know we are engaged with contractors will tell you that we are advanced," he said. "I am not pretending that we have arrived but I do feel there has been great advancement over the past few months and weeks." Meanwhile, United's reserve goalkeeper Clark Masters is to have surgery on a hernia problem.
