Southend winger Louie Soares did not have the best of starts for his new side, but a word with the Blues boss, and some extra training, has seen him reveal why he was one of Sturrock's summer signings. Soares: 'I have been staying behind to do extra work as well' Let's face it, for the first few matches Louie Soares did not look much cop.The call went out for young Ryan Hall to get a chance on the left wing, which he was given, and looked a good prospect. However, the Blues management duo of Paul Sturrock and Tommy Widdrington never lost the faith, and have been rewarded in the Shrimpers last two games with some fine performances by the former Aldershot man.Soares told www.echo-news.co.uk: "The manager and Tommy had a chat with me about things and have been going through things with me in training as well. I have been staying behind to do extra work as well and hopefully I can keep on doing well." And so say all of us after Louie only started in three of the teams first nine games. He even grabbed his first goal in a Southend shirt against Barnet in the JPT last week, sadly not being able to follow up at Chesterfield when given a good chance.Louie though, who can play on either the left or right wing, is just hoping he can stay in Luggy's first team plans for the next game, Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall against free-scoring Crewe Alexandra.Soares continued: "I've filled in for people on the left hand side before and it's not a problem me playing there. I feel comfortable in that position and I've enjoyed being there but most of all I've been pleased to be back in the team. Hopefully I'll stay there against Crewe because they have been scoring a lot of goals lately and I think it will be an exciting game to be a part of."
