Louie Soares expressed his delight at joining Southend after turning down an offer to stay with Aldershot. The 25-year-old winger is adamant the Shrimpers are the club to help him further his career. "Aldershot did offer me a contract to stay but it wasn't right," Soares told The Southend Echo. "I needed a change and Southend is the right club for me so I'm delighted to have signed." Despite a difficult start to pre-season, the former Barnet player believes Southend can improve this season. "It's all about the team and working hard and that is something I will always do but I think a lot of things are possible for us this year," he said. "We need to bind together but I don't think that will be problem and I think we could do well."
