Soares eager to prove his worth

Louie Soares is determined to establish himself as one of the first names on Paul Sturrock`s teamsheet and acknowledges a few goals would not go amiss as he looks to prove his worth to the Southend boss. The winger arrived at Roots Hall over the summer from Aldershot, for whom he scored nine goals last season. And having failed to nail down a regular place in the Shrimpers` XI so far this term, Soares knows some goalscoring performances would certainly help his chances of keeping the starting berth he enjoyed against Torquay last weekend. "I feel like I have goals in me and hopefully I can get my first one for Southend at Northampton on Saturday," he said. "I've been in and out of the team a bit so far, but I understand the manager wants to see everyone play because he's trying to find his best side at the moment. "It's up to me to try and show I should be in his best side and scoring some goals would certainly help with that."
