Blues midfielder Josh Simpson wants to see the Shrimpers start taking their chances and finish teams off, starting with the visit of Port Vale on Saturday afternoon at Roots Hall. Simpson: Josh Simpson has started both league games for the Shrimpers since he joined on an initial six-month loan from Peterborough United, but has yet to see them secure three league points. And he believes it's time that changed this weekend. Simpson told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I think we've shown what we can do in glimpses but we need to kill teams off and we want to do that against Port Vale. Once we get one win I think things will become a little bit easier for us because the pressure will be off. But for that to happen we need to take more of the half chances coming our way. I had a couple at Aldershot on Saturday and we need to put them away if we are to get the results our performances have deserved."Certainly they played some good stuff in patches last Saturday in Hampshire but failed to open up a decent defence that held solid. However, Josh is confident that the corner will be turned soon. Simpson continued: "I think we have a good team. We're solid at the back and have creativity in midfield as well. Up front the competition for places is fierce and if we can all chip in with some goals in the league I'm sure we will be OK."
