Southend United players have been handed their own fitness schedules as they go their seperate ways for the close season. Tilson: 'It's important they keep their fitness up' The Shrimpers squad were back at the training ground last week where they were handed their own personal close season training routines, and they'll be expected to stick to them until whoevers left returns to Roots Hall on July the 1st. Tilson told www.echo-news.co.uk: "The players have been in this week so that their fitness levels can be tested and to also get the programmes we've given them. They will follow them during the summer break because it's important they keep their fitness up to keep them ticking over. Long gone are the days when you just start training again when pre-season resumes. They will do what we've given them to do and be ready to hit the ground running when they report back on July 1."
