Shrimpers trio out

Southend boss Paul Sturrock will be without the services of Peter Gilbert, Anthony Grant and Bilel Mohsni for the trip to Burton. Gilbert begins a three-match ban following his red card in the 1-1 draw at Stevenage on November 23 for a poorly-timed, two-footed lunge on Jon Ashton. The 27-year-old should be serving the final game of his ban on Saturday, but freezing weather conditions have meant two postponed games for the Shrimpers. Bilel Mohsni and Anthony Grant are also suspended for one match but Graham Coughlan is set to continue playing through the pain barrier after numerous knocks and Chris Barker remains on the treatment table with a long-standing calf problem. Barry Corr has shaken off a back problem whilst Antonio German is available having extended his loan from QPR earlier this week. Mark Phillips is unlikely to be involved as he looks to recover from a hernia problem as Sturrock's side look to improve on a four-match unbeaten run.M
