Orient captain Tamika Mkandawire forced Southend keeper Ian Joyce to tip his header over at a third-minute set-piece.[LNB]Jimmy Smith had a 26th-minute shot comfortably held by Joyce, but the first half was largely a drab affair.[LNB]The home side broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when midfielder Adam Chambers pounced on a loose ball and drilled into the bottom corner.[LNB]Southend replied two minutes later through skipper Adam Barrett, who joined an attack to punish Ben Chorley's slack clearance with a clinical finish.[LNB]And United scored the winner when keeper Jamie Jones initially blocked Lee Barnard's effort only for midfielder Alan McCormack to follow up and score with 18 minutes remaining.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
