Shrimpers striker on the mend

The former Crystal Palace frontman sustained the injury in the 1-0 defeat to Crewe on February 17 and is now back in light training and could be back in action in two weeks following intensive rehabilitation work. Fellow forward James Walker is a fortnight away from a return to training after eight weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. The striker had attempted a comeback for the reserves earlier this month but limped off after a recurrence of the problem. Meanwhile, youngster Craig Calver has been offered a one-year development contract to stay with the League One outfit. The 18-year-old striker is the only member of the under-18 side to be offered a new deal for the new campaign.
