Shrimpers striker fitness setback: 'It's heartbreaking for Barry'

News that Southend United forward Barry Corr was about to return to the first team squad have sadly not been proved correct as last season's 21-goal man will have to wait a touch longer yet.

Be a while before we see Big Baz in a Shrimpers shirt

The news doesn't get any better for last season's club top scorer Barry Corr as the Irishman has suffered a reaction to the knee injury that has kept him from appearing in a Shrimpers shirt this present campaign.

Always prone to picking up the odd knock concerns must be starting to surface that Barry might not be seen playing serious footy for a long while yet and, if money is around, another forward might be needed in the January transfer window.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It’s heartbreaking for Barry because he’s a great professional. He was able to play 20 minutes in a behind close doors friendly but since then he’s been in pain again and we’re awaiting news from the specialist about what to do next with him.”

Best of luck mate.
