Shrimpers sting Bees

Barnet 0 Southend United 2: Anthony Grant had given the Shrimpers the lead after 25 minutes before substitute Corr smashed home a second after the break following a comedy of errors in the Barnet defence. Before the game Blues boss Paul Sturrock said we couldn't expect to just turn up, run around for 90 minutes, and take away three points. He was wrong, that's exactly what we did. This was not a pretty game, and Barnet have a couple of drawfs in midfield who could see them out of trouble yet, but the result was only ever going one way, this is a Southend side that incresingly look like they could make a serious impact on the play-off places before the season's out. Anyway, no change from Luggy with the possibly Premership bound Bilel Mohsni staying up front, honestly you have to laugh, but as a mate said before the game if he goes to Blackpool and they stay up he'll probably be worth 20 million this time next year!A typical League Two start but you could see the Shrimpers were the more accomplished footballers, a touch faster to the ball, movement good off the ball, trying to find the man with the ball on the floor. Sturrock deserves some credit with what he's done since the summer, and that includes his boy.Goalkeeper Liam O'Brien's loose pass was intercepted by Ryan Hall who calmly squared the ball for Corr to hammer into an open net.It was no more than the visitors deserved as they dominated proceedings at Underhill. Barnet had had the first chance of the match with Izale McLeod firing at keeper Rhys Evans. But it was no surprise when Southend took the lead, Grant latching onto Bilel Mohsni's threaded throughball.Mohsni could have got his name on the scoresheet soon after but he could only head over the bar.The Bees looked more of a force after the interval with Mark Marshall fizzing an effort wide of the post. But their chances of a comeback were ruined when O'Brien's pass was intercepted and Corr bagged the winner.
